“Illegal tortoise trade is happening in Britain” (DEFRA, 2004). An estimated 10 million tortoises were shipped into the UK for the pet trade between 1890 and 1984 before the initial ban was introduced. This trade is back! Many of the tortoises that are entering the UK are dying within months, some just days. Please help by signing the below petition, or to help further, please download the paper petition and ask your friends, family & work colleagues to sign. We have started to make good contacts with government officials and need to gain signaures as quickly as possible.

PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION TO STOP TORTOISE IMPORTATION FOR THE PET TRADE!

KINDLY HELP BY PRINTING OFF AND DISTRIBUTING OUR PAPER PETITION FOR SIGNATURES HERE!

PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS VIDEO IS GRAPHIC

Darren Hi I have a friend who has a blog talk radio show and would like to interview people about Earth day and what they are doing; obviously for some of us it's everyday but I am wondering if you would like to be a guest on his show and help get the word out about your tortoise protection group. Let me know and I will get you connected!

by the way they are wanderers, had two a star tortoise variety and the black three legged one, think someone tried a piece for tortoise soup before he found us, one has migrated to parts unknown and the other is here because he cannot escape, so jam up all even four inch exits, because they toddle off.

Hi. was interested in knowing about food for an unidentified tortoise which adopted us, so too did a dog. This tortoise likes chicken, beef, all garden snails (devoid now because of him), hiding under pieces of bark off trees, enters the house and hides under cupboards, detests vegies of any kind from the home, and certainly avoids all fruits, not even papaya so he is not what is on the web. Thought i'd let others know so they won't get depressed. water in a bowl embedded in the ground to drink, not large enough to swim in and another an old sink for pool, he loves both

Dear darren,
am realy inspired by your organistion's tortoise conservation project. I think you should also extended your scope of your campaign to tropical rainforest region where we have more tortoise, and more proneto deforestation and pest trade. believe we still have more to share on this issues.

Tortoise Protection Group will you help us? we are going to protect 1000s of species including sea life by tightening ocean dumping laws around the world. Just pass on the secret to two other people.
