In the Earthday video shows a clean earth, green, and glowing. The trees are all very fresh and green as it should be. The water is clean and transparent. Compared to the second part of the video where it shows burned bodies, our beaches fill with trash as if it was a dumpster. Our earth is suffering the consequences of our bad decisions. Do we thing Industrial revolution, world wars or atomic bombs will make the earth a better place? Perhaps, we do not realize that if we keep mistreating and neglecting this earth will never see those first imagines again. Our beautiful earth will not be so beautiful again. The truth is that the second part of this video reflects the reality of our mother earth’s permanent future if we do not find a solution.

This Video "The Story of Stuff" has opened my eyes dramatically. I can not believe that something as natural as water can not be taken. According to the video, 40 percent of the water in the world can not be taken because it is contaminated. This video also mentions how major industries are to blame for this. Not only industries are responsible, I also contribute to the pollution of this world. I have decided to do everything in my power to help keep a clean and healthier world by taking steps such as closing the tap while I wash my hands and when I brush my teeth. I know it takes more than that, but this is just the beginning. It was also shocking to know that I contribute to 4.5 lbs of garbage a day. As humans we have created this mess and we must fix it; so, that our world can be green as grass and clean as snow!

The "Decline of Neatness" is not just in our lives and our way of dressing as well as our way of talking as mentioned by Norman Cousins, but also in how we deal with our planet earth. It is devastating to see how each day the standards for a clean earth are fading. What happened to having clean oceans and water streams, green grass and our animals without being in danger of extinction? The “Time for Change” is now. Now is the time to take all measures into our hands. Not only to take care of our earth and prevent global warming, but to protect one another. According to “ Time for Change”, “As further effect of global warming, diseases like malaria are returning to areas where they been extinguished earlier” this shows that everything that we do always comes back to us. What we give the world that’s exactly what we are going to get back.

In Tune With Mother Nature

If you listen for the songbirds
As they greet the summer sun,
And love the way the wind can make
The trees sings just for fun;

If you like to hear the ocean
As it drums upon the shore,
And imagine all the whales out there,
And hope they'll sing some more;

If you think of all the animals
As players in a band,
Each with a lovely tune to play,
All needed on the land;

And know that as a boy or girl
A woman or a man
You have a vital role to play
In Mother Nature's plan;

If you honor every living thing
As a part of nature's treasure
You're in tune with Mother Nature
So let's all sing her song together.

Brian Handwerk
for National Geographic News

A broad scientific census says that Earth is already experiencing significant global warming. So how hot will it get, how soon, and to what effect?

Some climate scientists warn that the pace of global warming could be much more rapid than that predicted even a few years ago.

"Any time you get into projections, you get into a lot of uncertainties. But the [climate] models are getting a lot stronger,"… Continue
