I'm a Computer Science and Spanish major at the University of the District of Columbia. My hometown is Baltimore, Maryland.
I have never been so aware about the earth until I met Professor Irvin. I never knew anyone who cared about the earth as much until I met Professor Irvin. Now I am aware of how much the little things I do contribute to the destruction of this earth. There are some things I can not change, like shorter showers and no driving, but I now save energy by turning off my lights and television when I'm not in the room and also turning off my laptop while I am not using it. I have informed a few of my friends, who didn't even know global warming was occuring, about the conditions of our earth.

Our Earth used to be something beautiful and clean,
But now things have gone to the extreme.
With all the pollution and large amounts of trash,
We have destroyed our planet so quickly and so fast.
Trees are cut on the expensive of our greed,
Because all we want is more and will do anything to achieve
The materialistic things that caused our planet to be this way.
But at this rate, there won’t be a planet Earth some day.
Glaciers melt and our oceans continue to rise,
What we don’t realize is that our life is passing right before our eyes.
Our animals are dying and struggling to remain here,
While we ignore their pain and don’t even shed a tear.
How could we let things get this intense?
But until this day, it all still doesn’t make sense.
Our Earth is dying and our world is ending.
Let’s wake up, make a change and stop pretending.

Effects on Mother Nature by KoKo
Mother Nature is healthy,
And has beauty and is wealthy
But with Global Warming in the way,
It will take Mother Nature’s beauty away
It will become hot,
Like a steaming pot
Leaves will become brown,
Then everybody will frown
We need coolness,
Not hotness
But also happiness,
Please Mother Nature don’t come to an end
Because we’ll be your friend,
To help you become healthy and green again!!!
