I am a sophomore history-education major at The University of the District of Columbia. Protecting the environment is very important to me, and I'm really interested in learning how I can do my part. Traveling around the world has opened my eyes to how beautiful our planet is and I want my grandchildren to be able to experience it as I have.
My Home Country:
United States
Organizing an Earth Day Event This Year?
No - But I'd like to participate
My Environmental Interest(s) (Climate Change, Solid Waste, etc.):
Are you part of an organization that wants to reduce its carbon footprint????
If so EPA has the perfect program for you. According to an EPA publication, The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program helping to increase the use of green power among leading U.S. organizations. Green Power is defined by the EPA as, "elctricity generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, low-impact biomass, and low-impact hydro resources." The program is designed to help organizations to reduce their use of conventional electricity and in turn reduce their impact on the environment. As a green power partner you can purchase the amount of green power thats right for you organization. Your green power purchase not only gives your organization publicity and recognition as an environmental leader, but also, "helps to accelerate the development of new, domestic renewable energy sources."(EPA)
Leading organizations that have already become Green Power partners include Whoel Foods Market, Johnson & Johnson, U.S. Air Force, and The University of Pennsylvania. Why not make your organization the next!
