Thank you Miss Anderson for this wonderful story and for doing your part to save Mother Earth.

So many people think that going green means they have to completely change everything about their lifestyle and become a treehugger. Nothing could be farther from the truth. All you have to do is make a few small changes to go green. If you try to make huge changes, you will probably give up and return to your old ways, so it is best to make small changes to start.

Let me give you an example of what I am talking about. I do the grocery shopping in my family. I bought a few canvas sacks and carry them with me when I go to the grocery store. This is going green. I still drive my pick up truck to the store and that is not going green, but my truck was bought years before going green was even on my radar screen. If I had to change my entire life to go green, I would have to get rid of the truck and get a Prius. I simply am not going to do that just yet, but I will probably buy a greener vehicle when I am in the market for a new car. Does this make sense? Going green can be a slow gradual process.

I used to brush my teeth with the water running. Today, I turn the water off until I need it. That is going green and it is a small change but it matters. I suppose I will someday change out my toilet to a low water green toilet. It's just that I am not ready to do it just now. by Vilma Anderson

About Me:
I am native Washingtonian and I enoy listening to music and reading mystery and non-fiction novels. I enjoy being outdoors and visiting various places in Washington, DC to admire the different types landscapes (plants and flowers). My Home Country:

Organizing an Earth Day Event This Year?
Definitely - Ask me how!
My Environmental Interest(s) (Climate Change, Solid Waste, etc.):
My environment interest is centered around air-pollution.

"Air Pollution"

Air pollution is made of many kinds of gases,
droplets and particles that reduces the quality of the air.
It would make me feel better if you told me that you really care.
Do you think it's fair that society breathe the diesel fuel
from cars and buses? Have you thought about purchasing
a bike or do you really want to tell me to take a hike?

The industrialization of society, the introduction of
motorized vehicles, and the explosion of the
populations, are factors contributing toward the
growing air pollution problem. Where do we start to
try to solve them.

Please tell me that you are aware and deep down inside you
really do care. Air is the ocean we breathe and maybe the cause
of our death. Air supplies us with oxygen which is essential for
our bodies to live. Please visit www.earthday.com and obtain
some knowledge and see what society need to give
so we can breathe fresh air, which I think it's safe to say
these comments are fair. At this time it is urgent that we
find methods to clean the air.

The Air

Air pollution's a lot of gas
Droplets of acid or a mass
Of particles floating everywhere,
Stuff that messes up the air!

But, hey there, do you even care?
Are you ignorant or are you aware?
Are you prepared to do your part?
To fix this mess, where do we start?

Should we have to breathe the stuff?
That cars and buses huff and puff
And smell the stink of diesel oil?
It makes my temper start to boil!

Do you want to ride a bike
Or, even better, take a hike
Cuz when you use your own two feet
To mov… Continue

Pollution dims the skies and the air

I recently read an article in Yahoo! News that really opended my eyes about pollution and made me wonder how much dirty air can we take in before it's too late. The article basically said the "skies are dimming, for most of the world." This is due to increases in airborne pollution, which have dimmed the skies blocking sunlight - get this, "over the past 30 years." According to Friday's edition of the journal Science. I wonder how many people actually know what is going on with the pollution pro… Continue
