EarthDay Fair 2008, Jordan
On behalf of the Earth Day Network (U.S.) / the Call to Action in Jordan -Earth Day Fair 2008 & the Great Amman Municipality we were proud to have invited you to join us & contribute in the first event of its kind in Jordan.
"Earth Day Fair 2008, Jordan"
Motto: "Everyday is Earth Day!"
Patron: Eng Omar Maani, Mayor of Amman
Venue: The National Orthodox School
Time frame: Friday, May 2nd (10:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Participants: This included a combination of various schools & NGOs all brought together under one theme
Event details: Fun & educational events that rekindled public commitment to environmental values & broadened public support. It was a great opportunity to bring people together for the common good in a festive atmosphere.
Program included a walkathon/march (in support of raising public awarness to environmental issues we are facing), tree planting, food, music, contests, educational booths, exhibits & informational brochures...
Actual total attendance number ≈450 (mostly children)
School students enthusiastically received paper recycling and soap manufacturing techniques in addition to educational story telling. Kids of 7 years and up were determined to finish the walkathon by themselves and carry banners calling out for environmental action displaying seeds of patriotism and civic involvement!
