I am not very good about posting, but Meredith bribed me with a t-shirt - guess I'm a sucker for freebies! Ha!
Have any of you heard of this organization? http://www.cnaturenet.org/
Might even be a part of the Earth Day network. I am a part of an organization that is involved in using horticultural activities as therapy for people from all backgrounds and special needs. it is the American Horticultural Therapy Association, or AHTA.org.
I have an Environmental Education background, and became involved when I worked with people who were mentally retarded, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill. There are probably many resources on the website. We Horticultural Therapists work with children, too.
My personal experience with kids is any activity that seems like FUN is the best, since they learn without really trying!

In reference to the website you posted, Earth Day Network is one of many organizations trying to pass the No Child Left Inside Act, which includes an environmental literacy component, outdoor education as well as funds to schools and organizations that support environmental education. Call your legislator and ask them to pass this important bill!
