The Grave Of Confucious
I was very impressed by the 2500 year old grave of Confucious in the small town of Qufu, Shandong Province. On my first long walk, (1990-92) from Canada to South America, to attend the 1992 Earth Summit in Brazil, people asked "What are you going to do when you get there?"

The first person we met was Andrew Hou, the assistant manager who catered to our every need, became our firm friend and a…

Yesterday I added a blog post about Ecoogler a search engine that plants a tree in the Amazon for every ten thousand clicks. I thought this to be a very good idea and was inspired to think that Google had set up such a wonderful alternative to its regular search engine.

Merrin & Louise Watch The Frog Hop
We all agreed: We had never seen a frog hoping across lily pads, even though we have been told through countless fairy tales and cartoon illustations that is what frogs do. So when we saw, while wading through the mud a few days ago, a frog hoping across the lillies we were amused, amazed and delighted.

Every bit of the environment is used when its harvest time in China.
We're now in a vast flood plain north of Nanjing and the mighty Yangtze River. Water and rich earth is everywhere. Within a few kilometers of leaving the small town of Ming Guan we hiked close to a lake where tiny communes were settled amidst water filled paddies of rice.
