Hi Mr. Levenberg-Engel,
Indonesia is actually a country on an archipelago consisting of thousands of island. Just like in the US, the rise of water level has worried only some people in Indonesia. Some do not have enough knowledge about global warming or climate change, therefore they are less worried. I am thinking of what would be the best way to provide good and effective environmental education in Indonesia.

Maybe we could take Sable's idea and turn it into a booth at the carnival? Like, a fact table or something. Lots of people at school are politically active, so if they saw what their candidate thought about the environment they might like them even more, or change their, or their parents, opinion! We might want to make it more interesting than just a fact table though...

Our beach erosion has been pretty severe over the few years. We have lost a number of homes and we just recently moved Sankety Head Lighthouse. It seems virtually all of the sophisticated beach erosion techniques have not worked. Mother Nature always has her way. The last earth day I showed pictures of what our island would look like with a small 10 sea level rise... we would loose almost half the island... not a fun picture. Focusing on solutions, one person at a time we can all make a difference though.

Hello, Mr. Levenberg-Engel. I just wanted to thank you for using the site to get your students involved. It's a great way to use the resources we have here, and I'm certain other teachers will learn from your example.

Regarding Salma's comment below, "Sabel suggested that we should research all the candidates for president on their views of environmental action and stuff and stuff!! I really want to do that!! What do you think??!!" personally, I think the idea goes beyond who will be our next President. Not only students, but people in general would benefit by knowing where all of their elected representatives stood on environmental issues, because only by being an informed electorate can we ensure that our representatives will uphold our values.

Thanks again for being here!

I'm not sure if they'll work, but these are links to some of my favorite ones. They go in order from the top.

Thanks for introducing the site, it's quite cool. My icon is this extremely environmentally friendly cat from a comic strip called "mutts." I think you might like it, http://muttscomics.com/ I did look up the Siberian tiger though. That's horrible. What do they expect a tiger to do when provoked?
