Indonesia is actually a country on an archipelago consisting of thousands of island. Just like in the US, the rise of water level has worried only some people in Indonesia. Some do not have enough knowledge about global warming or climate change, therefore they are less worried. I am thinking of what would be the best way to provide good and effective environmental education in Indonesia.

We have lost a number of homes and we just recently moved Sankety Head Lighthouse. It seems virtually all of the sophisticated beach erosion techniques have not worked. Mother Nature always has her way. The last earth day I showed pictures of what our island would look like with a small 10 sea level rise... we would loose almost half the island... not a fun picture. Focusing on solutions, one person at a time we can all make a difference though.

Regarding Salma's comment below, "Sabel suggested that we should research all the candidates for president on their views of environmental action and stuff and stuff!! I really want to do that!! What do you think??!!" personally, I think the idea goes beyond who will be our next President. Not only students, but people in general would benefit by knowing where all of their elected representatives stood on environmental issues, because only by being an informed electorate can we ensure that our representatives will uphold our values.
